ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Opener is responsible for the initial order outs on all loan programs, to include the following but not limited to: ordering appraisals, flood certification, title, (W) VOEs, VORs, 4506Ts, credit supplements, etc. May be responsible for sending appraisals to customers within required time frame. It is imperative and a main priority for this position that all items are not only ordered, but also tracked back to the file for the processing team to review for loan submission. Assinged files are to be handled as they are received and completed as soon as possible. Times are monitored through management reports. As a loan opener, you will receive assigned files in random rotation, which you will be responsible for an from initial assignment through closing.
This position is responsible for Internal Pre-Doc Check, making sure that the file is clear and ready for loan documents, following a series of checks and balances, which is developed to ensure quality loans. You should take immediate direction from the assigned processor on the transaction, who has access to additional details and insight on the loan. However each file should follow the same similar process based on the loan type and program identified.
Essential Job Functions :
Confirms all information on a loan file is accurate and in accordance to compliance with the company’s best practices and policy.
Request services and verification of multiple vendors.
Assist processor in getting conditions fulfilled in a timely manner.
Follow up on vendor’s orders and logging the status on our System (Encompass)
Order corrections and verify that the information is accurate (date, signatures, and other required fields).
Other duties assigned by management to assist with the overall file flow.
Maintains quality of service by establishing an reinforcing company standards.
Experienced in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Prior experience is the mortgage industry and familiarization with Ellie Mae’s Encompass loan origination system is highly preferred.
A candidate who can demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and seek growth potential.
Outstanding customer service orientation.
Ability to maintain rapport with our Operations and Sales staff.
The ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while meeting deadlines as outlined with each transaction.
Organized and attention to detail, especially in notes of both action and communication are critical within this position.
During training, the successful candidate will receive detailed explanation as to where to maintain the work and updated communication.
Language Skills :
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Ability to report and effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and others as it relates to the area of workflow process.
Enroll and participate in any Encompass® assigned courses along with individual coursework assigned by the Operations Manager or HR Liaison. A successful candidate is expected to complete all assigned coursework in the allotted time frame. Additional (supplemental) will be delivered in a variety of platforms from Encompass pre-recorded course work, webinars, hosted company webinars, bi-weekly Operations meetings, handouts, tools, and resources related to your position.
Mathematical Skills :
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
Reasoning Ability :
Demonstrate consistently to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. To interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
Work Environment :
The work environment characteristics are fast paced and very high demanding. A successful candidate must have the ability to manage their time, meet time sensitive demands, and take directions from multiple entities.
Internal advancement upon achieving a complete and through understanding of the Loan Opener’s role is possible. The processing staff that to whom you will be working for as their opener on each loan will weigh heavily on this advancement. Make sure to keep an open mind take criticism constructively when it is identified. No question is not acceptable, if we are unable to find the answer as a team, we will as a department.
